On the Illinois side of the river, we find three “Phoenixes” that have
arisen in former restaurants’ sites. ..One of the biggest buzzes lately
floats up the river from the town of Andalusia. The Moon River Supper Club
(in a building mainly remembered as The Riverview Inn) was opened in 2003 by
current owner and operators JV McCreight and Doug Perkins. With several appearances on
Paula Sands Live, chef Robert VanSant has shown that he cooks much more than
just catfish, although he serves up a nightly school of that as well.
Besides favorite Midwest supper club standards, the menu offers ribs, pork
medallions, Asian-marinated sirloin, orange roughy, tilapia, coconut shrimp
and much more. Look for the nightly specials. Listen to Darlene Bruewet on
